Vacha Lasunadi Thailam: Benefits, How To Use, Ingredients, Side Effects

Vacha Lasunadi thailam is an Ayurvedic herbal oil, used in the treatment of ear problems such as infection or external injury. It is used for head massage and also as ear drops. This oil is formulated based on Kerala Ayurveda practice. 

Benefits

Vacha Lasunadi tailam uses: 

It helps to relieve ear injuries, pus collection, ear discharge and related ear problems and catarrh. Good for head.
It is used for the treatment of tinnitus and vertigo.

Mode of Usage

How to use Vacha Lasunadi taila?
It is used for external application only and as ear drops.
To instill as ear drops – 5 -6 drops are instilled into the ears.

Duration

How long to use Vacha Lashunadi Taila?
Externally, it can be used for a very long period of time.
Ear drops are advised for not more than a month time.

Side Effects

There are no apparent side effects with this medicine, on external application. However, this medicine is best avoided in pregnant ladies and children.

Use of this oil as ear drops should only be done under medical supervision.

Keep out of sight and reach of children. store in cool dry place, away from direct sunlight.

Vacha Lashunadi Oil ingredients:
Vacha – Sweet flag (rhizome) – Acorus calamus – 64 g
Lashuna – Garlic – Alium sativum – 64 g
Nisha – Turmeric – Curcuma longa – 64 g
Bilva – Bael (root) – Aegle marmelos – juice extract – 3.072 liters
Taila – Oil of Sesamum indicum – 768 ml

Reference and Expiry Date

Sharangdhara Samhita Madhyamakhanda 9/198, Sahasrayogam.

Shelf life / expiry date –  Three years from the date of manufacture. Once opened, it is best to empty the oil within 1 year.

वचालशुन दोषाभिर्बिल्वपत्ररसे ।
तैलं श्रवणदोषघ्नं विशेषात्पूयनाशनम् ॥
vacālaśuna doṣābhirbilvapatrarase |
tailaṃ śravaṇadoṣaghnaṃ viśeṣātpūyanāśanam ||

During pregnancy, lactation

If you were using this oil before pregnancy without any allergic reaction, you can continue using this oil even during pregnancy.
If you have not used this product before and wish to use it during pregnancy, better to consult a doctor because it can cause skin allergy in some rare cases.
It is generally considered as safe to use during lactation, however consult your doctor for the right advice.

Can this product be applied after steam therapy?
No. Oil is best applied before steam therapy. This is as per basic Ayurvedic principles.

  1. Is this oil the same as Vacha lasunadi kerathailam of Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala. Can it be used for ear wax removal. How many drops can be put and how long will it take? Will we need to warm the oil before putting and how long should it be left in the ear?

  2. I have Ear itching for very long period. I used to take Canditonic ear drops , which when stopped again my Ear start itching . Is this vachala sunadi kera thailam help permanently cure my Ear itching. Karthic
